Speaking of Spirit wars, I would like to point out something.

Inkyo
This card is a fate back and has a focus value.

BUT is this card a follower or is it a misprinted personality?

As a follower he rocks.
He gives 2 chi to your personality, and his force is equal to the number of elemental rings in play. He is the first follower I have ever seen have a negative honor requirement and have a personal honor. By definition, if you bring him into play you actually gain his one personal honor. You would have to be a member of the monk clan though. (Ok it could be a misprint)
I would never actually push this issue. Too bad he can not cast kihos.
I would actually consider putting him into a deck that needs chi. He might show up in a Toturi Army dueling deck or a Phoenix enlightenment deck.

As a personality, he is free or pay 2 gold and get his one honor. He is cannon fodder in an enlightenment deck, because he can not cast kihos. He would be good in an water ring, empty the hand, and get the void ring with kaede sensei deck. For now I will treat him as a follower.

Just throwing this up for discussion. Also, I already answered the guys question. Everybody else quit answering it as well. We are a broken record that keeps repeating itself.

Good call cause he is one. :-)

A personality wouldn't have "+2" chi. I did a
websune search for him and it showed his honor
requirement as "1" and his PH as "-". That's right in
line with being a follower.

Such is the way of listserves. Unless you want one
question answerer above all others, thus rendering the
list pointless in a way.

Todo,

Don't do a websune search.. Look at the card. You will understand the confusion when you see it. The follower does not say +2 chi it says 2. If you also look at it you will see it looks like a personality. If you cover up the focus value and put it in a dark sleeve, it looks like a personality.

On the other hand, the last Clan War journal (Thunder's Challenge) includes
some nice Brotherhood units and leaders. It is absolutely trivial to make
a monk army which draws three cards a turn, and there are excellent options
for dueling and maneuver based armies. Sadly, the number is still fairly
limited, and the army must have a Phoenix or Dragon general or else suffer
horrendous price markups (can't legally have a Monk general at this time),
but Brotherhood options at least exist now and are pretty spiff.

Hi all,
Thought I'd just say thanks to everyone for answering my questions.
Now you can all go back to meditating in silence... (if you want :-)

I believe he's been erratted as it was printed with errors. We had the
erratta read out at the start of our SW pre release tournament.

Well, it was good to get different opinions/confirmation.
Also, it got some talk/discussions going.

Does anyone here have the 'Way of Shinsei' book??
I don't roleplay but recently bought Way of the Lion (I used to play Lion,
and will return in Gold) and I thought it was great and I wondered if the
monk book is as good..

Hi Mustafa!

It's excellent. Makes pretty powerful monk characters, even though I was a
bit disappointed at the lack of heritage tables, but I understand why they
aren't there.

And seeing Eisai with hair is a must.

Gotta love it!

It is a mixed bag. Many of the abilities are pretty unbalanced. I got the
impression play testing was a bit on the light side. There is some good
source material, but much of it is a mixed up version of real world
stuff. (Example: there is discussion of various sutras, but they mix them
up.) There is some excellent artwork within, and there is some mediocre
art. Example: in the section discussing specific characters and their
backgrounds, all of the elemental acolytes look damn near exactly
alike. Also, the cover seems to feature an Ebonite (remember LBS?) and
Uncle Fester.

As I say, it does have its good points. Some of the kiho are well
balanced, and even though it mixes real world stuff it at least gives a
jumping off point.
