Toshimoko Sensei, lots of duels, kenshinzen - this is already a viable
archtype for Toturi's Army.

>Build the Empire: Bring at least one of each of the following Holdings into
>play: a Garden card, a Temple card, a Copper Mine, a Gold Mine, an Iron
Mine,
>a Silver Mine, a Geisha House, a Marketplace, and a Stables.

Include anti-honour stuff so there is enough time to bring out the
holdings, but otherwise not too hard.

>Defend Rokugan: At the end of the game, you must have at least three
>Fortifications on each of your remaining Provinces.

Again, have anti-honour stuff, and allow three provinces to be destroyed
before winning the game.

>Accept the Tao: Put four Rings into play.
>
Hint on winning the game: put number five in play, too. ;}

>Shadowlands
>Rise of Fu Leng: Create and display your personal "Terrible Standard of Fu
>Leng" and present it to the league players.

Take one of the more annoying younger players... *ahem*
Is this really one of the conditions? Seems a bit light to me.

>Gather the Horde: Bring all the Personalities in your deck into play.

This makes up for the previous one. This will be a toughie, especially
since honour decks don't wait that long and military decks can destroy
provinces holding personalities.

>March on Rokugan: Destroy at least six of your opponent's Holdings.

This isn't too bad, just a little strange. I guess Occupied Terrain may
finally see some use.

>Fu Leng battles the Thunders: At the end of the game, control at least six
>of your opponent's Personalities.
>
Hidden Heart of Iuchiban, Kolat Master, Kolat Recruiter, spells that bring
cards back as undead - tough, but doable.

I've commented on the Brotherhood conditions previously.

>Brotherhood
>Shinsei defeats the guards: Win at least five duels with one Personality
who
>has no Items attached.
>Shinsei reveals the Tao: Win by Enlightenment
>Journey to the Shadowlands: Win by Honor without losing or destroying a
>Province.
>Battle Fu Leng: Win a battle in which you have assigned seven different
>Personalities, each representing one of the seven Great Clans (Crane, Crab,
>Dragon, Lion, Phoenix, Scorpion, and Unicorn).
>
>You have to win the game as well, for it to count.
>
Thanks for sending these. This would definately make some interesting
games and bizarre decks!

Unfortunatly you have to win as well.

Does someone have the text on Maintaining the Balance?

Oh, as a final note: You're going to want to
have some sort of protection against Doom of the
Brotherhood. If you are getting some Fire and Shadow,
I'd recommend three copies of Maintaining the
Balance. It'll also help against things like
Led From the True Path and other Ring-discarding
effects and it's got a focus value of four.

If not, then look for three Avoid Fate or three
Dharma Technique. Worst case, if you don't have
those cards, is to run with Troll Raiders and/or
The Age of Man. Those should be easy to find
and will give you at least a little bit of
event protection.

Subject: [Brotherhood] a few combos

Hello All,

In an effort to remind everyone that they are allowed
to post stuff (as far as I know....) here are a few
little combo's that occured to me.

Firstly, have you noticed that they changed the
wording on the Ring of Earth it now says
"...in which the attacking army's force exceeded the
province strength at any point and *the army* did not
destroy the province..." (starry things added by me)

well, what this suggests to me is this

Shurin Storms, kiho, R, Honor Bound
Cost: 0, Focus: 1
Kiho Elemental Battle Terrain: Bow any one of your
Shugenja or Monks at this battle with Chi of 4 or
more, to put this Terrain into play. When this Terrain
resolves, the attacking and defending armies and all
cards attached to this Province are destroyed. If you
are the defender, the Province is also destroyed. This
Terrain does not resolve unless the caster is still in
the battle at the end of the Battle Action Segment.

Shioda seems to be the perfect candidate for this, ok,
so you still lose the province and stuff, but
hopefully you take some guys with you and get the ring
out (note, do not try this on your last province)

Ok, now a couple of reasons to stick a one or two of
this card in your deck;

Test of Honor, actions, R,
Cost: 6, Focus: 2
Limited: Target Personality must undergo a test of
honor. Draw and discard a card from his family's Deck
of Fate. If the focus on the drawn card is greater
than the honor of the Personality, the Personality
dies dishonorably.
This card has turned a number of games for me since I
started including it in my decks.

Most people already have I. Arts in their decks which
leave people very vulnerable to one of these (plus
test makes them lose a card) and there are times when
a bit of personality kill could be real handy.
Especially when you can be almost certain it will
work, with a little help from Exp. Hoshi Maseru, who
can increase their discard by the number of rings you
have in play.

One more little combo involving our big bad master of
Five Takao and this card

Reflective Pool, spells, R, Imperial
Cost: 1, Focus: 3
Open Elemantal: Bow this Shugenja and destroy this
spell to give one of your Personalities the ability to
perform an action on any personality in play. This
ability goes away at the end of the turn.

this is pretty straight foreward, get yourself a
second human sword for a turn, could be handy if you
need loads of force and chi for something I guess.
You can use Reflective pool for loads of other things
as well, think about it.

Well, those might not be the greatest revelations to
you, how about some better ones?
And also a question, I.Art isn't Strict-Jade legal (as
far as I know) what's the best way to get the ring of
fire without it?

Thanks for your time
Hoshi Brendon
if you ask me, Hanoshi looks like he just jumped out
of 'Shadowfist'
